What to Think About Before Buying

Do you really want to buy a Paddle Board?

I personally think that this is the most important question that you need to ask yourself! What made you decide to buy a Paddle Board? Did you see someone launch their flashy carbon fibre race board from your local beach and effortlessly glide out to sea? That’s great, we can help you do that too, but just be aware that that person has spent many hours in the water, cold and wet, with salt water up their nose before they could make it look so effortless.

Seriously though, if you’re the sort of person who buys a new trendmill in the January sales and then uses it twice before listing it on Gumtree then I recommend that you try out paddle boarding before you splash the cash on your own board. There are loads of places that will either just let you have a go or you can buy some lessons to get you started. Here are a couple of places that I’ve tried, if you don’t live near these locations then just google your nearest SUP hire location like this one (please check that the person running the training is suitably qualified and that they have the correct safety precautions in place):

SUP Hub NI is a great place to learn to Paddle Board. It’s run by Ian and he offers ‘Ready to Ride’ Lessons, 5 Week Beginners SUP Skills Course, Skills Sessions, Social SUP and he’s even set up a local race series.

What do you want to do with your paddle board?

There are so many things that you can do on a paddle board and it’s important that you know what you want to use your board for before you buy.
